As noted in period reviews from Autocar and Evo, the 3.0 was the Z3 at its best, blending smooth grand tourer manners with the power and poise of a genuine sports roadster. The muscular six-cylinder engine delivers real-world performance to rival the Porsche Boxster and Honda S2000 of the time, yet with a calmer, more refined character.
While the suspension (inherited from the E30) could feel old-school under pressure, it also lent the Z3 a certain analogue charm now lost in newer cars. For those who value GT-like comfort, silky straight-six performance and a classic rear-drive layout, the Z3 3.0 Roadster remains a compelling modern classic, one that’s fast disappearing in this kind of condition.
