The Goodwood Revival Car Park: an Insider’s guide (2025)
If Goodwood Revival is the theatre, the car park is the foyer: where the tone is set, peacocking commences, and the truly nerdy earn their stripes. Here’s how to arrive like you’ve been arriving since ’98, and park where it actually matters.
When should I arrive?
Car parks are free and open from 07:00. Gates open to GRRC Members & Fellows at 07:30 and to everyone else at 08:30; on-track action starts at 08:45. Translation: if you fancy the best spaces (and a serene wander through the pre-’66 gems), aim to be rolling onto the grass by 07:30–07:45.
Plan your day · Timetable
Which day is “best”?
• Friday: lightest crowds, lots of practice; superb for lingering in the car parks and paddocks.
• Saturday: the busiest and often sold-out; prime racing and people-watching—arrive very early.
• Sunday: big races continue, family vibe; morning arrival still wins.
Where do I actually park?
• General Public Car Parks (free): large grass fields signed by colour/letters. Surfaces are grass throughout; low-slung cars beware after rain. No overnight parking/camping.
• Disabled parking: Car Park D by Gate 12, with courtesy shuttles and on-site Shopmobility (pre-book recommended).
• Motorcycles: hardstanding in Car Park A (arrivals from N/E) and Car Park C (from W/S). Helmet storage available at Gate 12.
• By train: frequent services to Chichester with a shuttle bus running 07:00–22:00 Fri/Sat and 07:00–21:00 Sun.
The “plum” car parks (and how to get in)
• Revival Car Show (pre-’66 & tax-exempt display, “Over the Road”). Free but must be pre-booked; it sells out. If your car is pre-1966/tax-exempt, this is the cats whiskers: thousands of period machines and a short stroll across the bridge. About the Car Show · Book display parking
• GRRC Lavant Bank (members-only, inside the circuit), Choice GRRC parking on the Lavant Straight next to the GRRC Enclosure, strictly members & pre-’66 cars; places are limited. GRRC membership
• Hospitality & The Kennels — Select hospitality includes dedicated parking at The Kennels and a vintage-style shuttle to and from the Motor Circuit.

Maps and gates (know before you go)
Bookmark the 2025 event map before you set off; it marks every gate, car park, shuttle point and the bridge to “Over the Road”.

Routes, signage & avoiding queues
Near the estate, ignore your sat-nav and follow the yellow event signs. Goodwood manages flows dynamically and sometimes closes local cut-throughs. If you’re north/east/west, stick to the signed arterials rather than village lanes.
Two winning arrival tactics
• The Dawn Raid: on the A-roads by 06:30, parked by 07:30, coffee in hand. You’ll beat the queues and have the pre-’66 field to yourself for photos.
• The Late Gate: if early is impossible, aim post-10:30 and accept a longer walk; you’ll miss the inbound peak. Linger Over the Road after racing (open 07:30; typically to 22:30 Fri/Sat and 21:30 Sun) and leave once the queues die. Over the Road
Wet-weather & kit list (the boring but useful bit)
Parking is on grass. After rain: sensible shoes, a small folding mat for jacks, and a tow eye you can actually find. Picnics are welcome; chairs make trackside viewing civilised. Overnight parking/camping is not permitted in any car park.
If your car isn’t pre-’66…
You’ll park in the general fields which are an event in themselves. Expect everything from working saloons to concours exotica; it’s half the fun. For pre-’66 owners, book the display early.
Quick checklist (save this)
• Tickets (and GRRC badge if applicable)
• Any display or parking label you’ve booked (Car Show / Kennels / GRRC)
• Arrive by 07:30 (best) or after 10:30 (second best)
• Follow event signs, not shortcuts
• Disabled parking: Car Park D (Gate 12) with Shopmobility
• By train: Chichester + shuttle bus
P.S. Arrive in period style (our three Revival-friendly flavours)
• Sporting glamour — 1954 Jaguar XK140 OTS (Pastel Blue): pre-’66 eligible; perfect for the Revival Car Show or GRRC Lavant Bank if you’re a member.
• Quiet authority — Bentley S2: pre-’66 eligible; glides into curated parking like it owns the lawn.
• Retro bravado — Mk1 Ford Capri: not pre-’66, but oozes late-’60s swagger for the general car parks—the “I’m-here-for-the-racing” choice.
