Goodwood Revival 2026 Car Park Guide – Best Spots, Access & Arrival Tips

The Goodwood Revival returns to the Goodwood Motor Circuit from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September 2026.
If the Revival itself is the theatre, the car park is the foyer. Rows of E-types, early 911s, Land Rovers, Bentleys, Minis and all manner of machinery you haven’t seen on the road for years mean that, at Goodwood, even the walk from the car can be part of the event.
But with tens of thousands of people converging on a handful of Sussex roads, when you arrive and how you approach the circuit can make the difference between a civilised start to the day and spending the first hour of it staring at the back of somebody else’s classic.
Here’s our updated guide to parking at the Goodwood Revival 2026, including the latest information from Goodwood on parking, access routes and the rail disruption affecting this year’s event.

One particularly important piece of advice from Goodwood this year is not to rely on your sat-nav as you get close to the circuit. Follow the official event signage instead. The traffic plan is designed to distribute cars between the various approaches and car parks, and attempting to find a clever shortcut can put you onto a closed or restricted local road.
Goodwood specifically asks visitors to avoid road closures and local routes such as the B2146 through South Harting.
The Dawn Raid – still our preferred option
Our advice hasn’t changed: go early.
Goodwood’s public car parks open at 07:00 and the main gates at 08:30. Arriving around 07:30 – 07:45 usually gives you time to get parked, sort yourself out and enjoy the walk in without immediately joining the biggest wave of arriving traffic.
If you’re travelling any distance, we’d much rather have an early alarm, clear roads and breakfast at Goodwood than an extra hour in bed followed by a queue into Chichester.
There is another advantage: the early morning is arguably when Revival feels at its best. The classics are arriving, the paddocks are waking up and the whole place has that slightly surreal feeling of having slipped back several decades.
And if you’re taking something old yourself, an early run on quieter roads is rarely a hardship.
Which Goodwood Revival car park should I use?
Unless you have allocated parking, you generally don’t need to choose a particular public car park in advance.
Goodwood operates a traffic management system that directs arriving vehicles towards the most appropriate public parking depending on the direction from which you’re approaching.
Follow the yellow event signs rather than the sat-nav.
Goodwood’s official 2026 Parking & Travel Guide shows the prescribed routes and public parking areas. It’s worth looking at before leaving so that you understand the general approach you’ll be taking, but once you reach the event traffic system, follow the signs and marshals.
If you’ve pre-booked allocated parking; for example Lavant Bank Parking or Revival Car Show parking display your parking label clearly and follow the signs corresponding with it.
Coming from London and the north
Goodwood’s official travel plan directs London traffic primarily via the A3 from the M25, with approaches towards Goodwood via routes including the A283/A285 and A286 depending on your direction of travel.
Traffic arriving from other directions may be routed via the A27 and the approaches around Chichester.
The important thing is not to second-guess the final part of the journey. Your navigation system may see an apparently quiet country lane that looks five minutes faster; Goodwood’s traffic management team may have closed it, restricted it or deliberately be keeping event traffic away from it.
Once you start seeing Goodwood event signs, believe the signs rather than the screen.
General parking is free – but it’s on grass
General Revival parking remains free of charge and opens from 07:00 each morning.
It is, however, predominantly field parking. That means two things.
First, wear shoes appropriate for walking across grass rather than dressing entirely for the paddock.
Second, if you’re bringing a particularly low-slung classic or sports car, consider the weather and ground conditions. Goodwood itself warns that the parking may not be suitable for very low cars.
If September has been wet, we’d also be slightly more enthusiastic about taking the Land Rover than the Ferrari.
Overnight parking or camping in the public car parks isn’t permitted.
One excellent little tip from Goodwood for 2026: save the location of your car when you park. Goodwood recommends using what3words. After a long day, one grass field can look remarkably like another.
Bringing a pre-1966 classic? Don’t automatically head for public parking
If you’re fortunate enough to own something appropriate to the Revival period, the Revival Car Show is worth knowing about.
Goodwood allows qualifying tax-exempt or pre-1966 vehicles to apply for a space in the Revival Car Show parking area. Parking is free, but spaces are limited and can sell out in advance.
It’s one of the reasons we say the Revival begins before you’ve actually entered the circuit. The classic parking areas can be a show in their own right and are well worth exploring even if you arrive in something rather newer.
If you have a suitable car and spaces remain available, apply through Goodwood before travelling rather than simply turning up and expecting access.
GRRC members – Lavant Bank Parking
For members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club bringing a pre-1966 car, Lavant Bank is arguably the plum parking spot.
It’s situated on the Lavant Straight next to the GRRC Enclosure and is considerably more special than simply leaving the car in a field.
Lavant Bank parking needs to be arranged in advance and is restricted to qualifying cars and GRRC members, so check availability before setting off.
Accessible parking
Dedicated accessible parking is in Car Park D, with entry to the event through Gate 12.
It is available to Blue Badge holders, and Goodwood provides courtesy shuttles from the car parks for visitors who may have difficulty walking to the entrances.
Electric and manual wheelchairs can also be booked in advance through Shopmobility.
Follow the yellow event signs carrying the disabled symbol as you approach Goodwood rather than attempting to navigate directly to Car Park D yourself.
Motorcycle parking
Motorcycles get hardstanding rather than grass.
Goodwood currently specifies Car Park A for motorcycles arriving from the north and east, and Car Park C for those approaching from the west and south.
Helmet storage is available, and motorcycles should not be left on the approach roads.
Electric cars
There is currently no dedicated EV charging in the Revival event car parks.
If you’re travelling any meaningful distance in an EV, we’d therefore arrive with sufficient charge for the return journey or identify a charging stop away from the immediate Goodwood traffic before travelling.
Coming by train? There is an important change for 2026
This is probably the biggest travel issue specific to this year’s Revival.
Engineering works on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September will affect rail journeys between London Victoria and Chichester.
Goodwood says that no Southern trains will operate between Three Bridges and Horsham/Barnham, with rail replacement buses operating on parts of the affected route.
Direct London Victoria to Chichester services are expected to operate via Hove and Worthing, but journey times may be longer than usual. Alternative routes suggested by Goodwood include travelling from London Waterloo towards Havant, or via London Bridge and Brighton.
If you’re attending on Saturday or Sunday, check the latest rail information shortly before travelling rather than relying on the journey you may have used in previous years.
A paid shuttle bus operates between Chichester station and Goodwood during the event. As operating information can change, we’d check Goodwood’s current Getting Here page for the latest shuttle times before travelling.
What time should I arrive at Goodwood Revival?
For us, 07:30 – 07:45 remains the sweet spot.
The public car parks have been open for half an hour, but you’re comfortably ahead of the 08:30 general admission opening and the larger influx that builds later in the morning.
GRRC Members and Fellows can enter from 07:30, while Over the Road also opens from 07:30.
The first circuit activity begins at 08:45, so there’s really very little downside to being early.
By contrast, arriving around 09:30 or 10:00 puts you into a much more conventional event-going pattern, with more traffic approaching the circuit and more people entering at once.
Our ideal plan: on the road early, parked before 08:00, coffee in hand and ready for the gates.
Friday, Saturday or Sunday – which will be busiest?
All three days attract substantial crowds, but Saturday is traditionally the day we’d expect the greatest pressure on the surrounding roads and parking.
For 2026, Saturday admission has also sold out, which reinforces the case for an early arrival if you’re attending that day.
Friday tends to have a slightly more relaxed feel, while Sunday has the full final-day atmosphere. Whichever day you choose, though, don’t mistake quiet roads 30 miles from Goodwood for an indication that the final few miles will be equally clear.
The pinch points are inevitably around Chichester and the local approaches to the Motor Circuit.
Leaving Goodwood – don’t rush with everyone else
Arrival gets most of the attention, but departure is worth thinking about too.
If you walk out immediately after a major race or at the point when everybody collectively decides the day is over, you’ll inevitably be joining thousands of other people doing exactly the same thing.
If you don’t need to be somewhere at a particular time, we’d rather linger.
The main event site closes at around 19:00, while much of Over the Road remains open until later currently 22:00 on Friday and Saturday and 21:00 on Sunday.
Have something to eat, take another wander around the cars and let the first wave of traffic disappear.
It is a considerably nicer end to the day than sitting stationary in a field.
Taking a classic to the Revival?
If you have the choice, take the interesting car.
Revival is one of those rare events where the journey and the car park can be every bit as enjoyable as the destination.
But if you’re taking a cherished classic that spends more time resting than travelling, give it a proper check before setting off. Fluids, tyre pressures and condition, battery health, fuel and basic mechanical checks are all worth doing before committing an older car to a long run and potentially slow-moving event traffic.

Our Goodwood Revival 2026 parking verdict
If you’re driving to the Revival this year, our advice is reassuringly simple:
Leave early. Aim to park around 07:30 – 07:45. Follow Goodwood’s event signs rather than your sat-nav. Wear sensible shoes. Save the location of the car. And, if you own an appropriate classic, take it.
If you’re travelling by train on Saturday or Sunday, allow extra time because of the planned engineering works.
And don’t treat the car park merely as somewhere to abandon the car.
At the Goodwood Revival, it’s part of the show.
